My Sister Life

This is the first complete translation of Pasternak’s most famous book, first published in 1922, though written in 1917. It served as the foundation stone of the poet’s fame and it immediately set him apart. As D.S. Mirsky wrote: “Pasternak gradually became the universal master and exemplar.” The book was banned during the long decades of Stalin’s rule, but its fame was not forgotten. Now this “book of the Revolution,” as Pasternak called it, has been brilliantly translated by the fine American poet, Mark Rudman.
