A Sudden Brightness

Following on the success of her memoir, There Will Be Gardens, Boissonneau has now completed a novel of authentic power, a novel about the struggle of a young woman who is about to leave a B.C. mental hospital in the late 1950s — her difficulties over planning a future for herself and her much-loved daughter who has been boarded out in Vancouver. While reflecting on the past, she gains new perceptions and makes a final breakthrough following a conversation with a hospital visitor, enabling her to go forward.
