Adam of St. Victor, a medieval holy man, said the whole mystery of the Trinity could be understood in a walnut. These poems are like walnuts. They must be broken open and their inner meat understood. They are the reflections of a man in search of himself as if were a pilgrim conquistador clanking across the sea of time in search of the lost Atlantis.
