We’ve all used other people’s showers, whether it be in a hotel where the shower caps are free or in your grandmother’s house where a long back scrubber hangs from the shower nozzle. Washing in other people’s showers is a common human experience, mundane on the surface but riveting once we realize that another person’s shower is not only a physical place, but a state of mind we are entering into. And that is what we do in these nine stories – we enter other people’s showers, other people’s lives.
Mark Paterson was born in San Francisco and grew up in Montreal where he lives, writes, and basks in the city’s unique blend of pleasure, indulgence, and proper bagels. Published in literary journals and anthologies, Mark is also known as the producer of such events as Power Slam — a cultural exchange between poets and professional wrestlers, Oh The Shame! — an evening of disgracefully bad art, and the cabaret-style series Grimy Windows Variety Showcase.
