The Earth Is a Witch, The Witch Is a Saint, The Saint Is Applause is a fable about the trials and tribulations of six imaginary nuns in a decidedly historical convent. An intense, deeply comic exploration of why some nuns become saints, others become witches, and others are forgotten altogether. “How an Intellectual Can Aspire to Savagery” takes the form of a panel discussion in which six prominent young actor/intellectuals explore with insightful and often hilarious results, the important (but often neglected) issue of how to live morally in an immoral world. “You’ll Get Over It” is a skewed retelling of the Pied Piper myth in which a futuristic city is cleansed of an unbearable infestation and then pays a horrible price for its ingratitude. A dysfunctional love story set against a backdrop of bloodshed and miscommunication. These three irony-drenched plays by Death Waits explore the many ways we formulate our own identities: each play occurring within a world of its own invention, worlds rife with familiar situations, imaginative transgressions and an idiosyncratic language which is to be found nowhere else.
