It is a progression of themes and images which calls into question the idea of progression in life. The naivet\u00e9, pain, and romanticism of a youth are challenged, recaptured, celebrated and mourned by the man he grew into. The outcome is a balance sheet of loss and gain, innocence and experience, ephemera and constancy, as the poet learns to keep faith with what was and what is.<\/p>\n
